Engineering Manager, Disposables R&D provides technical project
leadership to direct and/or manage Medical Device product
development programs of varying size, scope, and complexity. -With
fiscal and administrative management accountability, develops and
executes product development design strategies for short term,
"fixed" or "episodic" platforms/ programs. -Responsibility includes
cost, schedule, resource needs, and technical performance and
quality oversight of programs and multiple integrated projects.
Working with customers, thought leaders, and stakeholders, is
accountable for creation of a development plan(s) that reflect a
total system solution. - -Directs multi-faceted project phases,
from inception to product launch, and ensures proactive project
management and coordination of interdisciplinary technical design
and integration needs. Establishes and documents design concept,
criteria, scope, and details of all engineering efforts. - Works
with functions to define key capabilities and performance
requirements across all disciplines. -Responsible for capturing
programmatic risks and coordinating retirement strategies.
-Achieves goals, referring policy and highly complex technical and
business issues as needed; frequently interacts at Sr. management
levels across company and to external entities; works extensively
with cross-functional teams, at all technical and managerial
levels. -Collaborates and interfaces extensively in and outside
R&D, both within and outside the company. - Works effectively
with multiple diverse technical and business functions, and uses
tact and discretion to resolve conflicts. Displays solid written
and verbal communication and presentation skills, and communicates
effectively with customers, multiple teams and diverse stakeholders
at all levels. -Ensures financial, technical design, quality, and
project management accountability for resources and results; works
with other teams, Program managers and leaders to achieve strategic
Systems goals and integration needs; ensures highest level of
global compliance, quality, and ethics in conjunction with the Code
of Business Conduct and other Company policies. - Recommends basis
for SOP exceptions; applies broad understanding of program needs &
impact. -Executes short and long term objectives, with moderate
impact to division strategy with limited impact to corporate
strategy. - Working through diverse staff, leverages technical
opportunities for business advantage. -Accountable for overall
outcome of programs or projects through influence of indirect staff
and multiple teams to achieve system design expectations and
integration goals. - Support staff, Temps, and Outsourced staff,
working on a direct and indirect basis. - Administrative management
includes: effective work assignment, quality oversight, contract
management (as applicable), and budget planning, according to
signature levels designated by Corporate Finance. -Resolves
problems and makes decisions requiring technical depth. - -Sets
priorities displaying a solid understanding of short term business
strategy, and basic understanding of long-term strategy to support
decisions, solutions, goal setting, project plans, communication
interventions, and problem-solving strategies. -Serves and is
recognized as the subject matter expert for the Program and
validates all technical components and results; assumes short term
program risks resulting in long term impact. -Works in concert with
operational management, translates corporate and divisional
strategies to program/project group to contribute to the overall
strategic direction of the Program, Department, and Division. -May
also be a Technical Lead for small scale projects and/or conduct
due diligence, as needed.MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
-Bachelor's Degree in related Engineering or Scientific discipline.
-10 years of experience in product development managing projects
from Concept to Commercialization phase. -10 years of Project
management experience. -Experience with medical device development
under FDA Quality Systems Regulations, CE Marking, and ISO Quality
Systems is required. -Solid leadership experience with Executive
level Stakeholder communication skills. Ability to manage and
define business needs into tactical, cost effective, and feasible
program /project plans and development strategies.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS
AND ABILITIES -Demonstrated written communication skills -Strong
verbal communication and listening skills -Intermediate to advanced
level mastery of both business/technical applicationsConditions of
