Primary Location: 13693 S 200 W, Draper, UT, USA Division: Cox Automotive Job Level: Director/Senior Director Travel: Yes, 25 % of the Time Schedule: Full-time Shift: Day Job Requisition Number: 207289 The Senior Director Product Management, Fixed Ops is responsible for partnering with business leaders, product leaders, engineering leaders on the strategy, design, development, launch, and management of Cox Automotive s Fixed Ops product line. This role manages the full lifecycle of products from conceptualization, business case development, requirements gathering, product specification, implementation, review, release, optimization, and through to retirement. Together with a team of product directors, product managers, product owners, and user experience professionals this role evaluates technical options and represents business and customer requirements to the engineering organization, along with managing the product roadmap. The Sr Director leads a team of product and UX professionals responsible for developing, managing and optimizing large, complex products of strategic importance and significant business impact. This role is recognized company wide as a thought leader within Product and requires broad expertise in leading-edge product techniques and/or new technologies. This role leads all aspects of a Product Line or major Product offering and is often an integral member of the Release Train leadership team, driving the development of the product strategy and priorities for their product line. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Develop and execute the leadership and strategic direction and execution of mid to long-term product strategy for overall management of designated line of product(s) through the full product lifecycle, including the creation and execution of new products and features as well as enhancements, extensions and retirements of existing products. Ensure the mission and the values of the client are represented and incorporated throughout the product lifecycle. Oversee an operating model that ensures agile product delivery teams have the clarity and support they need to maximize product value and overall return on investment. Lead a team of product professionals that cover all aspects of the product discipline product managers, product owners, user experience, and other relevant operational functions within product (content curation, data integrity, etc.). This role may lead product through more than one layer of management. Partner and collaborate closely with Operating Leaders, Engineering, Marketing, Client Success, Sales, Finance, Operations Support partners, and other CAPG leaders to ensure successful product strategy, design, delivery, and implementation efforts. Ensure the team is delivering on targeted financial, strategic, and operational mid to long-term commitments. Participate in developing business / investment cases to support the product line in partnership with corporate strategy, finance, engineering, marketing and Solution Set and Operating leaders. Maintain an understanding of competitive position, target market and overall industry landscape that supports the work to define and create product(s). Leverage advanced understanding of our product capabilities and product offerings as well as marketplace trends to inform and help guide our overall product strategy in a rapidly changing market. Use influence and contribute to Cox Automotive Product thought leadership through participation in cross-division work groups. Foster effective business relationships with all internal and external partners, vendors and stakeholders. Actively develop talent within the product organization and create bench strength for all product teams including immediate succession. Lead and resolve business issues or problems that have business-wide impact. TECHNICAL/FUNCTIONAL SKILLS INNOVATION: Obtains organizational commitment to innovation. Develops organizational capabilities to drive innovation. Leads and plans the development of innovation capabilities and implementation of innovation processes, tools and frameworks. Leads the communication and an open flow of creative ideas between interested parties and the set-up of innovation networks and communities. REQUIREMENTS & DEFINITION MGT: Plans and drives scoping, requirements definition and prioritization activities for large, complex initiatives. Selects, adopts and adapts appropriate requirements definition and management methods, tools and techniques selecting appropriately from predictive (plan-driven) approaches or adaptive (iterative/agile) approaches. Obtains input from, and formal agreement to, requirements from a diverse range of stakeholders. Negotiates with stakeholders to manage competing priorities and conflicts. Establishes requirements baselines. Ensures changes to requirements are investigated and managed. Contributes to the development of organizational methods and standards. PRODUCT MGT: Creates the product lifecycle management framework for internal and external customers and users. Champions the importance and value of product management principles and appropriate product development models whether predictive (plan-driven) approaches or more adaptive (iterative/agile) approaches. Aligns the product management objectives with business objectives, and authorizes the selection and planning of all product management activities. Initiates creation of new products. Oversees the organization s suite of products and accountable for delivery of customer value and/or user satisfaction over time. Identifies how new products may create new opportunities and how to adapt existing products to create new opportunities. PORTFOLIO MGT: In partnership with Agile delivery, readiness and product analytics teams, defines a portfolio of programs, projects, and/or on-going service provision. Engages and influences senior managers to ensure the portfolio will deliver the agreed business objectives. Plans, schedules, monitors and reports on activities related to the portfolio to ensure that each part of the portfolio contributes to the overall achievement of the portfolio. Collects, summarizes and reports on portfolio KPIs often through the deployment of business management processes and systems. Identifies issues with portfolio structure, cost, risk, inter-dependencies, impact on current business activities and the strategic benefits to be realised. Notifies projects/programs/change initiatives of issues and recommends and monitors corrective action. Reports on portfolio status as appropriate. PERFORMANCE MGT: Manages individuals and groups. Allocates responsibilities and/or packages of work, including supervisory responsibilities. Delegates responsibilities as appropriate. Sets performance targets, and monitors progress against agreed quality and performance criteria. Provides effective feedback, throughout the performance management cycle, to ensure optimum performance. Proactively works to ensure effective working relationships within the team and with those whom the team interacts with. Provides support and guidance as required, in line with individuals abilities. Advises individuals on career paths, and encourages pro-active development of skills and capabilities and provides mentoring to support professional development. Provides input in to formal processes such as compensation negotiations and disciplinary procedures.
