Job Description:Role Summary/Purpose:This role is responsible for providing leadership and direction for critical elements of Synchronys Compliance Management Program including regulatory and internal exam management, Compliance program governance, Compliance and Enterprise Risk Assessments, change management activities including implementation of requirements related to new laws and regulations and managing the Compliance Committee agenda.This position is remote, where you have the option to work from home. On occasion we may request for you to commute to our nearest office for in person engagement activities such as team meetings, training and culture events. Were proud to offer you choice and flexibility.Essential Responsibilities:

  • Lead Compliance, Fair Lending, Money Laundering and Other Type of Law Risk Assessment efforts including training, control assessment calibration, narrative development and dissemination to appropriate committees.
  • Partner with the Legal Department and appropriate business owners to ensure timely assessment and implementation of regulatory change initiatives including new laws, regulatory guidance and industry consent order analysis.
  • Coordinate monthly Compliance Committee meeting including scheduling, preparation, agenda content including dashboards and charter updates..
  • Coordinate monthly Regulatory Leadership updates with CCO, quarterly Regulatory Team Chats and maintenance of team goal updates.
  • Oversee the Compliance contribution to the periodic Enterprise Risk Assessment
  • Responsible for updates and refresh of Compliance owned policies and procedures.
  • Oversee Compliance related regulatory examinations, internal audits and other supervisory activities.
  • Manage team of compliance resources dedicated to Compliance Program and Change Management Initiatives.
  • Other duties & functions as neededQualifications/Requirements:
    • Bachelors degree or in lieu of degree and 5+ years of consumer financial services and/or internal audit experience within a consumer financial institution; in lieu of a degree 9+ years of consumer financial services and/or internal audit experience
    • 5 years of experience with compliance and/or risk management in consumer financial servicesDesired Characteristics:
      • Ability to build strong relationships with cross-functional teams (Risk, Compliance, Legal and the First LOD) and become a trusted business partner
      • Proficient in Microsoft applications, including Excel, PowerPoint and Word; familiarity with eGRC, and Tableau
      • Experience managing exempt level professionals.
      • Strong written and verbal communication skills
      • Experience managing people and/or leading in a matrixed environment
      • Experience in engaging with and presenting to SYF SVP/ ELT and regulators.
      • Understanding of regulatory, financial industry related guidance and best practices applicable to banking operations
      • Strategic Thinker who can look for efficiency opportunities in Program Team and Risk Assessments and recommend actions.
      • Ability to objectively identify problems and recommend solutions
      • Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM) or similar certificationEligibility Requirements:
        • You must be 18 years or older
        • You must have a high school diploma or equivalent
        • You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process
        • You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.
        • New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 24 months time in position before they can post.
