This position helps make gospel teachings, resources, or services
accessible to all in a simple and affordable way, supporting the
mission of the Church. This is a specialized position focusing on
publishing related work such as print production, broadcast and
events, translation, media production and other areas within the
Publishing Services Department of the Church. Qualified candidates
should be able to understand industry standard practices, processes
and best practices to help facilitate their management of vendor
relations and client support.
This position exists to maximize the relationship between Church
organizations and preferred suppliers and integrates with one or
more major Church departments or organization as a crucial sourcing
entity to that group by adding value, (best price, quality, and
timely delivery) to their specified needs for outside products and
services. She/he is involved upstream with organization leaders to
determine specifications for solutions to operating and business
needs and positively assists internal partners to meet and exceed
performance commitments by specifying and procuring best solutions;
actively participates in leadership councils and eliminates costly
"maverick" spend, (purchases not made through preferred suppliers);
ensures that ethical business practices with outside vendors are
maintained by all Church employees.
The incumbent will manage many high volume, key church-used vendors
with a variety of spend; is a multi-industry specialist and
authority, having learned from broad experience in those
industries; leads cross-organizational product selection and
sourcing teams, qualifies potential suppliers, leads multifaceted
negotiations, and legally contracts for needed products and
services; discovers and leverages all global planned expenditures
to obtain the best value.
--- Manage supplier relationships: Work closely with various
publishing teams (Translation, Film & Video, Broadcast & Events and
Production) to leverage the global Church enterprise expenditures
to qualify, negotiate, select, and establish legal contracts with
the best possible vendors of products and services at the best
value for the Church. Ensure supplier performance of contracted
terms and conditions.
--- Understand customer and internal partner needs: understand,
document, design solutions for, and ensure that both product and
service needs of sponsoring organizations are satisfied at the best
--- Understand solution alternatives: understand all assigned
industry directions; interact with vendors, consultants, and
professional groups; serve as a product and industry authority.
--- Develop and execute well-crafted Request for Information (RFI),
Request for Proposal (RFP) and Request for Contract (RFC)
initiatives to support projects and work related to documentation,
communication, process, organization and fulfillment.
--- Work with all teams to understand and refine Vendor Management
policies and procedures.
--- BS degree in Business related field or equivalent combination
of education and experience
--- Master's degree preferred
--- Requires 10+ year negotiation experience and proven track
record of successful product and/or project management combined
with consistent accomplishments in customer service
--- Ideal candidate will have 3 to 5 years of experience with
general publishing practices associated with print, media, design,
translation, voice, broadcast and production disciplines
--- Well-developed abilities in developing and rolling out business
--- CPM or CPSM certification preferred
--- Well-developed interpersonal skills and the ability to
successfully resolve conflicts, mediated differences, and recommend
--- Must have credible industry reputation and be known by senior
level industry professionals
--- Extensive experience in leading product and sourcing teams
comprised of highly educated and skilled employees
--- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
--- Proven track record of leadership and supervision required
Must be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
and currently temple worthy.
