Job Summary

Alliance Data Card Services' Enterprise/Bank Risk focuses on cultivating a stronger, unified culture that embraces a sense of personal accountability for developing the highest standards in governance and controls across the company.

Operational risk is present in all products, services, functions, delivery channels, and processes. Third-party relationships may increase exposure to operational risk because an organization may not have direct control of the activity performed by the third party.

The Senior Manager Vendor Risk will be part of the Enterprise Risk/Bank Organization, a second line of defense function, and will report to the Chief Operational Risk Officer. This role will have accountability for oversight of the first line of defense's vendor management practices to ensure compliance with regulatory and program requirements and reduction of risks associated with third party vendors.

Job Description

Essential Job Functions

Vendor risk management- Oversee enterprise-wide risk management and reporting of third-party relationships. Develop and maintain oversight and management of an effective enterprise vendor risk management program. Confirm appropriate due diligence is conducted on potential and existing third parties and present results to the operational and bank risk management committee. Assist in education the enterprise on identifying, remediating and reporting vendor risk. Measure the success and effectiveness of risk management efforts and set measurable goals to continuously raise standards.

Documentation- Responsible for developing the strategy for vendor risk management, as well as, the daily operations of the Vendor Risk team. Ensure appropriate documentation and risk reporting throughout the life cycle for all third-party relationships. Confirm third parties and internal stakeholders respond to issues when identified, and escalate significant issues. Establish risk-based policies and procedures to govern the third-party risk management process. Apply knowledge of Microsoft Office tools such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams to execute daily work.

Relationship Management - Building Vendor Risk Management's influence across the broader organization to help create a risk-conscious culture. Developed communication (written and verbal) and diplomacy skills are required in order to guide, influence and convince others, in particular colleagues in other areas and occasional external customers. Consult with all levels of leadership for the end-to-end execution of the Vendor Risk Management program, including reporting, testing, risk identification and remediation. Strategic advisor who communicates with clarity to build and improve our risk management plans and processes. Inspire our business leadership to adopt a risk-minded approach. Prioritize efforts on critical initiatives and works to identify opportunities and problem solve. Utilizes critical thinking skills to help analyze business issues, collaborates with stakeholders to resolve problems, and gains consensus on the best solution. Builds relationships by establishing trust, confidence and credibility with senior leaders, executives, and regulatory bodies.

Leadership-Serve as an engaging leader and strategic advisor for all functional levels and consult with senior leadership. Be an authority of risk insight by staying on top of emerging trends and industry knowledge. Hold the first line of defense accountable and provide credible challenge within functions who manage direct relationships with third parties. In conjunction with the first line of defense, Identify problems, develop solutions and participate in negotiating/implementing the chosen course of action. Influences change across the organization by demonstrating organizational agility and managerial courage.

Staff Management- Selects, trains, develops, organizes and directs a highly qualified and effective team, capable of delivering high-valued risk management services for the organization. Team member development includes enhancing technical acumen as well as improving leadership and interpersonal skills. Lead, challenge and motivate staff to obtain their full potential. Provide direction and prioritization support in order to manage allocation of resources to meet work fluctuations. Review staffing goals and expectations to ensure that each is consistent and adequate to meet department goals. Accountable to drive the performance assessment of all direct reports, generate development plans and set goals within the context of the corporate policy. Provide coaching, counseling and motivation to team members ensuring staff has the appropriate tools and training.

Working Conditions/ Physical Requirements: Normal office environment, some travel may be required.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience in Business, Organizational Management, Finance, Accounting, Risk Management or related field

Eight or more years leading of a team, banking industry knowledge, with progressive experience in one or more of the following: compliance, audit, risk management, regulated operational environment, finance, accounting or management.

Preferred Experience:

Master's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Organizational Management

Ten or more years experience demonstrating Foundational knowledge and experience with / exposure to all relevant risk disciplines (information security, business continuity, data privacy, legal and regulatory compliance, and general business risk)
