How you can make a difference

The Director of SOX Compliance will join our controllership department, reporting directly to the VP & Corporate Controller. This role will oversee our SOX program, controls remediation and integration, and ongoing compliance efforts. Specifically, this role will drive our internal policies and SOX compliance by partnering with a cross functional teams to design, develop and test against established SOX controls. This role will leverage strategic thinking, while driving tactical efforts to keep the company compliant and safe. This is an opportunity to have visible impact on the organization, so it will require a high degree of integrity, strong ability to maintain confidentiality and excellent partnering skills. The candidate must be a leader, have strong experience with Sarbanes-Oxley, COSO framework, PCAOB requirements, external and internal auditors, be detail oriented, have strong technical and communication skills, and be hands-on. The position requires management capabilities to communicate with and educate finance and non-finance personnel on internal controls, financial policies, and reporting requirements.

What you'll be doing

  • Leading a staff of 2-3 professionals, and cross functional teams across the organization
  • Leading controls remediation and integration efforts for business process and ITGC controls
  • Leading the SOX steering committee to ensure changes to the business are assessed for SOX compliance
  • Partnering with internal and external auditors to ensure control design effectiveness and facilitate walkthroughs and testing
  • Oversee the annual SOX risk assessment
  • Oversee the documentation of risk and control matrices, control design templates, flowcharts, and narratives

What you will need to be successful

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Masters degree in accounting or MBA, CPA required
  • +8 years of business/operational experience with a minimum 4 years in a leadership role (Big-4 or similar experience also required)
  • Deep understanding, expertise and experience in PCAOB standards, SOX and COSO Framework, SEC and US GAAP
  • Experience with risk areas, including financial, operational, regulatory, compliance, and cybersecurity
  • Understanding of SOX 404, COSO, and PCAOB requirements
  • Proven track record of analytical and organizational skills, including strong project management skills and able to work independently and effectively within a team environment
  • Strong work ethic and ability to adapt in a fast-paced organization
  • Customer-centric approach to collaboratively work with varying personalities
  • A record of personal and business ethics appropriate for a high-visibility public company with a culture of integrity
