Summary This National Guard position is for a HR ASST (MILITARY) (Title 5), Position Description Number T5044000 and is part of the G1, located in Draper Utah, with the Utah Army National Guard. Responsibilities Major Duties: This is not an all-inclusive list As a HR ASST (MILITARY) (Title 5), GS-0203-7, you will: Serves as a final reviewer of actions, which may include but are not limited to: accessions, promotions, transfers, boards, promotion eligibility; retirement eligibility; and actions that affect eligibility of educational or incentive benefits as well as sensitive, complex cases, which involve: allegations of inequitable, prejudiced, or similar treatment. Performs final review on file prior to review and action by a board, action officer, or others and insures that all levels of legal, medical, and administrative review have been completed. Summarizes salient facts and issues; analyzes case information; outlines options; and recommends appropriate action. Identifies gaps or inconsistencies in the record and initiates action or interviews personnel to obtain needed data. Researches and obtains all necessary relevant information regarding cases and issues and provides explanations and interpretations of rules, regulations, procedures, and requirements pertaining to actions taken or recommended. Provides advice and guidance to other personnel on actions in areas of expertise, as well as, advice, instructions, and interpretations, as needed, to lower echelons. Maintains files and libraries of current funeral/casualty material including policies, procedures, and guidance from Department of Defense (DoD), NGB, Regional CAC, and the Veterans Administration. Drafts or prepares related correspondence for appropriate signature and enters data in automated systems, as needed. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of Employment Must be a US Citizen. Participation in direct deposit is mandatory. May be required to successfully complete a probationary period. Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation. Must have and maintain an appropriate security clearance. This position is subject to provisions of the DoD Priority Placement Program. Must have, at a minimum, a completed National Agency Check (NAC) prior to position assignment. Irregular and overtime hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies. Qualifications Your resume must reflect in detail how the duties and responsibilities under each position you have held with each employer meets the below listed general and specialized experience required for the position.Must include beginning and ending dates of employment stated as MM/YYYY; and total hours worked per week in order to determine part time vs. full time credit. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Applicant must have have progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicant must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-06) or pay band in the federal service or 12 months of equivalent experience in the private or public in operating Microsoft Office (Work, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, Outlook, etc.); Compiling information and preparing reports; Dealing with others to obtain information and explaining decisions or recommendations; Planning and organizing work to meet deadlines; Researching, interpreting and applying rules, regulations and procedures; General office administrative and clerical procedures; Military personnel policies and records.
