With moderate supervision, the Tax Manager is responsible for supporting all areas of the company’s corporate tax department in areas of tax return compliance, income tax provision and financial reporting, accounting processes and controls, and overall tax planning. Successful candidates will be detail oriented, proactive, able to learn quickly, and able to work well with other teams within the company.


This position typically performs work in a corporate office location and reports to the VP of Corporate Tax. This position also works collaboratively with external service providers, team members in Finance, and various other departments throughout the organization.


What you’ll be doing

  • Assist in the preparation and review of quarterly and annual income tax provisions under ASC 740 including preparation of related tax disclosures for SEC reporting.
  • Assist with federal and multi-state income tax filings and supporting calculations, including estimates and extensions, and ensuring timely filing.
  • Oversee other indirect tax filings including personal property tax, franchise tax, and sales and use tax.
  • Research and respond to tax notices from federal, state, and local tax authorities.
  • Collaborate with the company’s payroll function to ensure proper compliance with payroll tax reporting obligations.
  • Maintain current knowledge of tax laws and financial and accounting guidance, and stay current with new and developing tax legislation having a tax impact on the company.
  • Ensure tax files and documentation are properly maintained for compliance under SOX 404 regulations.
  • Conduct tax research and prepare technical memoranda on certain tax matters.
  • Support the company with M&A tax diligence, strategy, and integration efforts.
  • Perform other duties or complete special projects as assigned.

What you will need to be successful

  • Knowledge of corporate accounting as obtained through the completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required—with a Master’s degree in Taxation preferred.
  • An active CPA license is also required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive tax experience in public accounting and/or a corporate tax department.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills, high attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects at once.
  • Self-starting and motivated, able to work without supervision to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with the broader team, including external advisors.
  • Ability to work professionally and responsibly in a confidential environment.
  • Ability to adapt to changing demands and responsibilities.
  • Proficiency with business and communications software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, common Windows operating systems, and Outlook) is required. A strong, hands-on knowledge of tax research tools such as CCH is also required.
