Job Summary
Responsibilities
* Ability to operate power tools and equipment normally associated
with landscaping and maintenance.
* Ability to withstand extensive standing, walking, bending,
squatting, kneeling, digging, and ability to lift at least 50
lbs.
* Ability to work in all types of outside weather conditions,
including excessive heat, excessive cold, excessive noise, dust,
smoke, and slippery or uneven surfaces.
Analytical and trouble shooting skills; ability to develop, plan,
and implement short and long term goals.
Demonstrated oral and written communication skills; basic computer
skills; customer service skills.
* A valid Utah driver's license is required.
Responsible for landscaping and installation of a specific area of
the University to provide an esthetically pleasing and safe
environment, and accomplished in accordance with university and
department policies and procedures.
Regular gardening and landscaping maintenance such as fertilizing,
mowing, edging, laying sod, pruning, litter pickup, weeding, snow
removal, tree planting, and watering to conserve healthy and
vigorous plants.
* Control weeds and pests using principles of integrated pest
management (IPM)
Must operate different models of tools such as hand pruners,
loppers, push and ride lawn mowers, leaf blowers, dump trucks, and
utility carts.
Work expediently, efficiently, and interdependently, with limited
direction from Lead Horticulturalist.
Perform snow removal in winter months utilizing shovels, blowers,
and plows.
Knowledge of common names of trees, shrubs, flowers, weeds and
insects pests.
*Employees are required to be available for on call snow removal
during winter months.

Preferences
would prefer (but not required) experience with grounds
maintenance, including knowledge of different plants and their
requirements: watering, pruning, weeding, fertilizing, mowing,
etc

Full Time or Part Time? Full Time
Work Schedule Summary: Mon-Fri 6:00am - 2:30pm with a half-hour
unpaid lunch. Employee will also be on-call for snow removal day
and night and weekends as necessary to keep campus open.
