General PurposePurchase equipment, materials, and services through the review of approved material requirements and specifications. Create competitive bids packages, evaluate proposals, and negotiate with suppliers. ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities of an Associate Buyer position include the following:
--- Authorize purchases on behalf of the company.
--- Purchase warehouse stock and direct buy materials to support plants as assigned.
--- Conduct supplier transactions that are predominately releases against previously negotiated Master Outline Agreements.
--- Introduction to e-sourcing quick bids and informal request for quotations.
--- Ensure all procurements are made in accordance with company policy and procedures.
--- Assist with developing procurement objectives that support the overall procurement strategy as well as business, commercial, and technical requirements to support the business.
--- Apply and implement sourcing and procurement practices.
--- Maintain network of suppliers to ensure timely purchase and delivery of materials and services.
--- Negotiate price of materials and services to optimize costs. Responsibilities of a Buyer position include the following:
--- Work with teams to develop business and commercial requirements, specifications, supply chain objectives, sourcing criteria, and market intelligence.
--- Conduct competitive bids which result in the purchase of materials or services from the best evaluated supplier derived from the bid evaluation. Negotiate minor commercial terms and conditions for capital projects, services, purchases, and related contracts under general supervision.
--- Purchase low to medium value and risk materials and services. Transactions are mostly releases against previously negotiated Master Outline Agreement with increasing level of responsibility, e-sourcing quick bids and formal quotations.
--- Ensure all procurements are issued in accordance with company policy and guidelines.
--- Develop, prepare, distribute, issue, and maintain supplier lists, sourcing strategies, terms and conditions, bilateral agreements, Requests for Proposals (RFPs), proposal evaluations, and purchase recommendations for materials and services.
--- Assist with establishment of identified domestic and international sourcing and procurement practices
--- Meet key performance metrics.
--- Develop process-driven practices and improvements. RequirementsRequirements for an Associate Buyer include the following:

• Associates degree in supply chain management, business, or a related field; or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Institute of Supply Management (ISM) certification considered towards education requirement.
• Basic knowledge of supply chain methodologies, models, and procedures.
• Proficient with the use of personal computers including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to work with all levels of an organization, and the ability to work as a member of a team.
• Ability to individually problem solve, prioritize work assignments, and communicate to stakeholders.
• Well organized with attention to details. In addition, requirements for a Buyer include the following:
  • A minimum of two years' experience in supply chain management, or two years if with company.
  • Ability to lead group problem solving sessions with internal customers and suppliers, prioritize work assignments, and communicate with stakeholders.
  • Assessment skills including the ability to review and evaluate proposals.
  • Ability to negotiate with suppliers.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to work with all levels of an organization; ability to work as a member of a team.
  • Ability to lead problem resolution sessions with internal customers and suppliers.
  • Ability to maintain records and files in SAP.
  • Basic knowledge of contract law and the Uniform Commercial Code. Preferences
    • One year supply chain experience.
    • General knowledge of SAP procurement modules or other ERP system.
